Coordinex GPS

This app shows your GPS position, converts it between coordinate formats, and lets you save places. There is no account and no sign-in, and the places you save stay on your device — we do not run a server that stores them. The app does use Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics, settings delivered from the cloud and notifications, and it can show ads.
With your permission, the app reads your device location to display your coordinates, centre the map on you and show your heading. Your location is used on the device and is not stored anywhere outside it. You can withdraw the permission at any time in the system settings; the rest of the app keeps working without it.
Saved places, your chosen language, units, map type, coordinate format and recent searches are written to the app's own storage on your device. Removing the app deletes them. There is no backup or sync to any service of ours.
Maps are drawn from open map providers, and place search and addresses come from an OpenStreetMap search service. To draw the part of the map you are looking at, or to search, the app sends the relevant coordinates or search text to those providers, together with the technical information any internet request carries, such as your IP address. Those providers handle that data under their own privacy policies. No identifier of you or your device is attached.
Google Firebase Analytics collects anonymous statistics about how the app is used — screens opened, features tapped, app version, device model, operating system version, country and a randomly generated install identifier. It is not tied to your name, e-mail or account, and it does not include your coordinates or the places you save. The statistics are used only to see which features are worth improving. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
The app can display ads supplied by Google (AdMob or Google Ad Manager). When ads are shown, the advertising service may read your device advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, and similar technical data in order to choose an ad and to measure it, under Google's own privacy policy. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in your device settings. Whether ads are shown at all is controlled remotely and may change between versions.
With your permission, the app can receive notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging — for example, to tell you about a new version. Doing so registers an anonymous device token with that service. Turning notifications off in the system settings stops them; nothing else in the app depends on it.
Firebase Remote Config is used to switch features on and off and to announce required updates without a new release. The app downloads those settings; that request carries only the technical information any internet request does, such as your IP address.
Opening Street View loads a Google Maps page inside the app for the point you tapped. That page is provided by Google and is subject to Google's own terms and privacy policy.
Sharing a coordinate uses your device's standard share sheet. What you share, and with whom, is entirely your choice; the app does not keep a copy.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Location — to show your coordinates and centre the map.
Internet — to download map tiles, search for places and load settings.
Notifications — only to deliver the messages described above; you can decline and keep using everything else.
Advertising ID — used by the advertising service while ads are shown.
The compass uses the device's motion sensors, which need no permission.
If this policy changes, the updated text will appear here with a new date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
